Paestrum – Greek Ruins in Italy!?

Paestrum was a pleasant change of pace from the other touristy places we visited thus far in Rome and southern Italy mainly because…it’s not that touristy.

No one around! I probably saw about a dozen people in total the day we visited.

There are probably a few reasons for this. Firstly, it’s a bit out of the way from your main southern Italy tourist hubs of Sorrento, Naples or along the Amafi Coast. Secondly, for some reason Peastrum isn’t as heavily advertised as the other main archeological site’s of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Lastly, Peastrum is actually a Greek historical site, so guess people would rather wait until they visit Greece and it’s neighboring region to catch up on their greek history.
